Batzulnetas Camp

Batzulnetes CampElders share precious time and knowledge at historical Batzulnetas Culture Camp every summer to share historical stories and tech traditional ways of subsistence and the Athabascan language. 


Youth and other attendees learn how to identify edible and medicinal plants, about other uses of plants and methods of plant preservation and storage.

Other traditional activities include beading, sewing of moose hide, drying fish, and many other important lessons of the subsistence lifestyle.

Learning these traditional skills help the youth and community members develop a closer connection to their culture and non-native participants gain a greater understanding of the Ahtna culture.
